Larkfield-Wikiup is an unincorporated community just north of Santa Rosa along Old Redwood Highway. Much of it was built as tract housing from the 1960s through the 1980s: ranch houses and two-story plans with stucco, plywood panel siding, lap siding and wood trim. The 2017 Tubbs fire burned through Larkfield Estates and Mark West Estates, and the homes rebuilt there are new, mostly with fiber cement siding and stucco. So a painter here sees two kinds of house. The older ones need scraping, sealing of panel edges, caulk and primer. The rebuilt ones are reaching their first repaint, where caulk joints and sun-faded sides are the main work.
